Chatham Girls Chalk Up Excellent Record BASEBALL SEASON OPENS SATURDAY Blanketeers Play High Point Col lege At Riverside Park Here Saturday Afternoon The Chatham Blanketeers semi- pro champions of the Carolinas will open their 1936 baseball sea son at Riverside Park Saturday, March 21st, at 3:30 P. m. against High Point College. Coach Virgil Yow of High Point announced that the prospects at the High Point institute are bright for another Little Six championship, and will offer strong competition for the Blan- (Continued on Page Six) The girls team of the Winston Mill won thirty games in suc cession, during the past season. The game lost to Marion, N. C., in the Southern Textile Tourna ment was the only defeat of the season. This is one of the most out standing records evsr made by any Chatham team. The leading scorers for the season were the Poole sisters, Babe and Mildred. Austin and Fishel showed much improvement over last season and helped a lot with the winning of the games. Lelia and Madia Swaim were outstanding with their defensive play, aided by the good work of Frances Rothrock and Margaret Taylor. Chatham was praised through out the entire season for the fine spirit and fight they displayed.
